The large gate stood in the middle of the deserted area, yet nothing seemed to have changed over all these years. It remained unchanged, eternal, constant through all the years. Though it had been many years since it had last been active and the few creatures who came this way had long forgotten its purpose. Yet something stirred int he air around the gate for the first time in many years, and for a moment one could have sworn that it even began to glow.
On the other side of this great gate, in the spirit world, the human turned spirit Tai had finally reached the rumored portal back to his home world. The moment he touched it the old inactive relic had began to react. With a deep breath he slowly began to push the gate open, wondering what he would find when he return. Was there even a world to return to? From what he had heard from those in the spirit world there was, but fewer and fewer were being called to serve their masters. Some had even found other ways to cross over on there own accord apparently as well.
Back int he human world the gate began to open, a great light shining from with in as the gap between the doors increased. The shape of a man could be seen slowly emerging from the gate.

As the gate opened, the Celestial magic energy grew immensely, and as such certain plsanes of existence were bridged. As such, certain spirits with a strong positive energy connected to the one bridging the gate were able to seep through.
An old man, short but powerful in spirit, arose as a spirit behind the spirit Tai, giving him a warm smile and a thumbs up, wishing him the best.
Out from breyond the gate was nothing but destitude; nothing but sand and wind and a bridge. It was then that a small, cute girl with black hair and bright eyes, clearly a Spirit, danced out in front of Tai, laughing silently and looking at him longingly; she smelled of lilies. She then danced onward, up the bridge, as if beckoning him to follow... She vanished into the distance.
It was then that Tai had the choice, forwarded to the bridge and the city, or back towards the endless desert.

As Tai stepped through the gate he felt the sudden urge of energy around, smiling at the sight of spirits dancing around him. Turning back one last time before he made his way back into his world, he swore he saw him standing there. that old man with his carefree smile. Instead of dwelling on the image, Tai took a step forward, not wanting to waste any more time dwelling on past or the mistakes contained within.
The first thing Tai thought as he planted his feet on the hot sand was how heavy everything felt. Having grown accustom to the spirit world, he felt some weak back here again, like all his power he once had wielded was gone. He slowly took a few more steps when he smelt her before he saw her. Lilies... oh how the smell overpowered him. He glanced towards the source in time to see the girl dance towards a bridge Tai had never seen before, not that he really knew where he was int he first place.
As she vanished Tai let out a relaxed sigh. He stood there staring at the bridge, thinking it was his only logical option to follow. There was nothing else out here but miles of desert, and if he wanted any chance of finding out what was going on he should probably follow it. Yet something was unsettling... the image of the girl, not just any girl, but to him it seemed to be that girl. Would following after her again just lead to more trouble and despair?
Despite every fiber of logic in his brain telling him to take the bridge, Tai decided he would not let his first choice be to follow after a figment of his past, the one that caused him so much pain in that time. With that Tai turned to the desert, and began the long, lonely journey across the sand.
